We were taught back in our school days about "respecting the Malay/Bumiputra/sons of soil rights", "Agong as the supreme ruler of Malaysia", "Bahasa Melayu as the legitimate Bahasa Malaysia" and etc. I don't question the Ministry of Education for emphasizing us on this, as all the mentioned above are in the Constitution-which is the highest law/basic foundation of our country. Our government had from time to time reminded us the need to be tolerance and accept others of who they are (refering to race and religion). But don't you realised that, there was never even a single Act (Akta) or ruling (peraturan) that regards national unity being introduced in any of our Sejarah books? Instead the books are flooded with other not so important information such as names of past Agongs, repeated facts of the rise of Tunku Abdul Rahman and his succesors (we studied it back in form 3 and again in form 5) and other sort of ridiculous source of information. What we need is solid background of the laws of our country. Governance in the best interest of our nation. Besides flooding us with such unnecessary information, we could have studied the history of past civilization such as Alexander the Great's achievements, rise of the Aztecs civilization, rise of Hitler, Mussolini and Japan Tokugawa just to name a few and instead of repeating the whole story of the formation of Malaysia again for two(2) separate years. Complete waste of resources, which resulted from inefficiency within the bureaucracy of the Ministry of Education. Every historical figures from all around the world is still regarded as immortal heroes. Gengkhis Khan's military strategies are still being studied in most of the military schools in the world, The Art of War by Sun Tzu is being applied from time to time by businesses and war strategem, the administrative skills of past Caliphs (Khalifah) during the Ottoman's empire and even the ways of life by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. are greatly appreciated by many scholars. Have we studied all this during our schooling days? Were we opened to international historical facts? Most of what i've just stated above are gathered from past readings through the net or even watching for Discovery Channel. In a business world, Sun Tzu's Art of War, Genghis Khan's military strategies and administrative skills by past Khalifas are constantly applied, and one would be dumb enough to not know them and with great pleasure I would like to say thats where our Ministry of Education wants us to head to. We would be the laughing stock of other nations. We are in a globalised world, where multinational companies floorish the land and we have the tendency to tell them, we do not know any of the above mention. Complete waste of time and resources. What a shame it is to be in such condition. Luckily for us the internet remains a vital source of information to gain what ever we could gain. The most disgusted features of our education system is the tendency of lowing the passing marks and declaring that more people are getting smarter. Foolish act by incompetence leadership. We may be champions in our country but once out there its a total different ball game and are we up to match! Certainly no...and thats why i supported Tony Pua's critics that government jobs are places for the government to dump in unwanted workforce due to their lack of competitive attitude.
I've just watch in BBC a programme whereby the transport minister of London was hammered down by a mere reporter in a programme version just like hard talk. That transport minister was hammered for his negligence in coordinating the safety in London airports that resulted potential terrorist attacks. A transport minister was hammered down publicly and its not even in the Parliament and hell knows how is he facing the other "Honourable members". If someone were to question the act of any cabinet ministers, he/she/they will be charged with the Seditious Act. Is that clean democracy? I doubt that. Nevertheless, the government had underestimated the capabilities of the rakyat, we are all educated, we are all professionals in someway or the other. Feeling cheated, never we shall. Champion the casue of a clean, fair and just form of democracy. Revoked the Judiciary competence level, draw a clear line between the judiciary and the executive. Legislative is suppose to ammend the laws, executive to execute the laws and judiciary is to uphold the laws. So let it be the way it should be.
