Ah Ma's (Grandma's) birthday.

A little history of my family as in maternal side. The surname here is Tan. Originated from Melaka under the banner of Teochew. Making me partly Teochew and partly Cantonese but in reality we follow the father side therefore I'm a Cantonese, besides...I can't utter a word in Teochew la. Not only me, but the entire generation of mine also cannot speak Teochew. What a waste of such great legacy. Anyway, the highest and oldest person in the house of 60 or more is my Ah Ma, whose had just celebrated her 86th birthday in Eastin Hotel. She has 5 sons and 6 daughters although there is one son who had died at an early age (I think around 2 or 3 months old) but no one talks about it anymore. My mom is the youngest daughter. but not the youngest in the family. Basically that is a short and precise facts about my origins-part of it, as in maternal side only. The following are pictures taken on that occasion.
This is my grandma whom I call Ah Ma. (above)

The cheese cake

The crowd goes wild trying to coordinate themselves (60 people) to take a family picture! It was a mess in the beginning, well...it turn alright in the end. Somehow la.

Behold the massive crowd.

Don't really like taking my own pictures but i guess this one taken by Ryan is pretty good. XD

My cup of tea

Ian Chu Xing De (my nephew)

Was trying to capture a picture of the wine swirling. Pretty hard to do it lah, limited with two (2) hands only.

Need not say more!

Watcha looking at!; never see a dead fish's head!

Uncle Sunny,Aunty Teresa and Ryan (uncle, aunty-mom's sister and cousin)
This is really cheap food, tofu (in the glass) with a piece of meat! but its unique la.

Uncle Siew and Aunty Molly (Uncle and aunty-again, mom's sister)

The kid that stole the spotlight, David Tan Tian Wen (new born and latest nephew added to the collection) with his parents (Eugene Tan-cousin and Margaret). Btw David is the first boy in line to inherite the surname Tan.

Longevity noodle (Cantonese:Chiong sow meen) (Lay man's term: Long life mee)

Overall the dinner was cheap la cause the food serve also cheap food, low cost ,no prawns and stuff like that, simple and easy, consumable by all. Not expensive nor cheap. Suit the worthiness of the food. Don't get me wrong that i only eat expensive food, pls la I'm a future accountant la, measuring the price is my duty of professionalism.
